Cyndi and Mason Cobb acquired the Colby Hill Inn in September 2000 after nearly a year-long search for the 'perfect inn.' A 10-year dream turned into a plan in 1998 when the couple attended a seminar on becoming innkeepers.

The couple found an inn in South Carolina and made an offer on it. They resigned from their positions, sold their home, and prepared for their new careers as innkeepers. An 11th hour snafu with structural issues at the inn caused them to back out of the deal. They found themselves 'homeless and jobless' with no inn to go to!

The couple regrouped and began their search for an inn again, staying with family and friends in the interim. Driving more than 20,000 miles, the Cobb’s traveled up and down the Eastern seaboard which finally led them to the Colby Hill Inn.
